- অল ইন্ডিয়া এয়ার (AIR)-এর অন্যতম নাম রাখা হয় আকাশবাণী।
- ভারতে পুরাতন মুদ্রা (৬৪ পয়সায় এক টাকা) বহাল রেখে দশমিক মুদ্রা (১০০ পয়সায় এক টাকা) চালু হয়।
১৯৬০ – যুক্তরাষ্ট্র বিশ্বের প্রথম আবহাওয়া উপগ্রহ উৎক্ষেপণ করে।
১৯৭১ – বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের এই দিনে পাকিস্তানি সেনারা কেরানীগঞ্জ উপজেলায় প্রায় এক হাজার বাঙালিকে হত্যা করে।
১৯৭৯ – ইরান ইসলামী প্রজাতন্ত্র হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠা পায়।
